Vineyard details All of the vines are quite near the winery, which reduces travel time and therefore optimises quality. The furthest away are those in Savigny lès Beaune and in Chorey lès Beaune, this idea of distance is relative, as they are only 2 km from the village. In Aloxe-Corton, there are only low-trained vines. It is forbidden to use any other kind as we are in an area with both "Village" and "Grand Cru" Appellations. The Corton Charlemagne vines benefit from a fully south facing slope and therefore receive maximum sunshine. The vines themselves are planted at 90 cm spacing with 1 metre between the rows, this gives a plant population of 10 000 vines per hectare and corresponds to I.N.A.O legislation. The average age of the vines is between 25 and 30 years. It is important to renew plots regularly in order to avoid having vines that are too old, or too young.
